My Life in 1930-1934. The beginning of the Great Terror in Russia. My beloved husband, Adrian, an employee of the Central Bank once again puts in prison by OGPU.

My beloved husband Adrian Fedorovich Timofeev belonged to the Russian Party of Socialists-Revolutionaries. It was a major political party in early 20th century in Russia and a key player in the Russian Revolution. It won a plurality of the national vote in Russia's first-ever democratic elections in 1917. This election was to the RUSSIAN CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY. This party was defeated and destroyed by the Bolsheviks.
Adrian stopped his political activities after the Bolshevik victory in Russia.
The main problem for our family was to stay alive together with our two sons - Alexander of February1918 and Adrian who was born in 1920.
The Great Terror began in 1930. Many educated people who worked for the Soviet Regime went to prison.
Adrian was sentenced to 10 years in prison during the trial of the The Mensheviks Union in Moscow on 01-09 March 1931.

The public trial in Column Hall of Union House in Moscow in 1931.

Adrian spent four years in Verhneuralsky political prison of OGPU (KGB).

He had been discharged from the prison due to his illness in 1934.

OGPU made attempts to put Adrian in jail again in 1937.

My sons Adrian and Alexander in 1932.

This is my letter dated 23 April 1933 to my beloved husband Adrian.
Adrian was at that time more than 3 years in the terrible Verhneuralsky political prison of OGPU (KGB).

Dear Adrian! You write nothing about the state of your health.

Провожу я последние дни;

Будут плакать они и страдать;

Мне уж нечего больше отдать;

How my beloved husband Adrian worked in the Soviet institutions (Central Bank, Gosplan, etc. in 1921-1930.

Makaryev's Fair (Makarevskaya Jarmarka) was the Greatest Fair in Russia held annually every July near Makaryev Monastery on the left bank of the Volga River from the mid-16th century to 1816. Following a massive fire in 1816, it was moved to Nizhny Novgorod, but for some decades thereafter it still was commonly referred to as Makariev Fair. It attracted many foreign merchants all over the would.

See the post in this blog:

Makaryev's Fair ( Nizhny Novgorod Fair later) was the greatest Trade Fair in Imperial Russia.

I participated in the reconstructionin in 1922 of the Historical Nizhny Novgorod Fair during the NEP (New Economic Policy) Era as a representative of the State Bank of Russia.

Nizhny Novgorod Fair was completely destroyed during the revolution and the sivil war in Russia (1917-1922). See the pictures below.

The terrible days comes after the Russian Revolution in Moscow. The Siberian Commercial Bank I worked in closed all its 70 offices all over the Russia. The Moscow office of the Bank was closed in February 1918.
See two posts in this blog:
1. My work in the Moscow branch of The Siberian Trade Bank next to the famous building of the Moscow Exchange.
2. Attempt of stealing of 320,000 rubles (800,000.00 US dollars) from the Moscow branch of the Siberian Trade Bank in January 1917.
My son Alexander was born on 05 February of 1918 too. It was terrible time.
In February 1918 the Bolsheviks were afraid of German attack on St. Petersburg and ran away to Moscow.
The Bolsheviks established many new institutions in Moscow in thier attempt to govern the country. I tried to find any job in some of them. I changed a lot of places of employment.

I got a job in 1925 in the newly re-established by Bolsheviks State Bank of Russia finally.

The State Bank of Russia has provided great funds for reconstruction of the Historical Nizhny Novgorod Fair and I controlled the spending of this money.

The construction of the house dates from the late 90s of the XIX century. Before the October Revolution there lived a local investor FS Kobzev. Leading loan operations, while Storozhev Kobzev owned forest near the village of the Sign (Wood called Storozhev of tradition in the old days-on there was a government outpost guarding the area Lievens Way).
